1. When working with Holly, what can I expect from start to finish?  An outline of the 5 simple steps involved when working with me can be found here.

2. What type of sessions do you offer and how much do you charge?  I offer three types of sessions – The Mini Session (30 minutes), The Portrait Session (60 minutes), and The Full Session (90 minutes).  More information on these session types and their associated investment may be found here.

3. How will I know when your Mini Session schedules are published?  My Mini Session schedules (as well as info on other promos and special events) is first distributed by email to those who have signed up to receive my email communications (Sign me up!).  After these families have had first dibs at the schedule, it will be published on Facebook {Like my page!} and my website.  View my current Mini Session schedule here! 4. Do you charge extra little fees?  For instance, scheduling my session on a weekend, paying by credit card, adding an additional person to the shoot, converting my images to black and white, etc.?  I do not charge extra for any of these things.  The charge for any day of the week is the same and you may use any form of payment you like – including all major credit cards.  While I do not charge extra for additional people or pets, it is recommended that a Full Session be booked for extended families and two or more families coming together for a single shoot (the Portrait Session is ideal for a single, immediate family up to 6 people). .  I also do not charge extra for converting images to Black and White – in fact, if you purchase digital images, you will automatically receive both the color and black/white conversion of each image selected.  The only additional fee I may charge is if you request I travel outside of Cincinnati or northern Kentucky for your shoot – the travel fee is a custom quote based on the location.

5. If I purchase digital image files, why am I limited to a print size of 8×10 or smaller?   Any print or product larger than an 8×10 needs to be produced directly through us for a number of reasons.   For larger prints, it is important that great care be taken to manage the cropping, color, and resolution of the image.  My monitor has been linked to the specific color profiles used by my lab for the highest color quality control.  In addition, modifications to your files may be needed to optimize the image for the print or product you have selected.  After purchasing a custom portraiture experience you want the final prints to look fantastic on your walls!

6. Where should our photo shoot take place? Do you have a studio?  I am a natural light photographer with a strong preference for images with a natural background.  For these reasons, I do not shoot in a studio.   Cincinnati and the surrounding areas offer a large variety of beautiful landscapes and parks from which to choose.  Depending on the ‘feel’ of the portraits you are after, I will suggest locations for you to consider, however, I am also delighted to shoot at a particular location that is special to you.

7. What should we wear for our photo shoot?  The most important thing is to have each family member wear something they feel great in.  Nothing stifles a child’s spontaneous smile like being in an uncomfortable outfit!  I highly recommend coordinating clothing vs. matching for a more timeless look in your portraits. 8. What happens if I need to reschedule the shoot due to illness or inclement weather?  Illness happens!  I am also a busy mom and know this all too well.  If you feel that you cannot go forward with the shoot as scheduled, please let me know at least 24 hours in advance and we will reschedule.  Similarly, if Mother Nature is not cooperating then we will simply reschedule for a different day.

9. What do you charge for a canvas and other image products?  I offer a variety of beautiful wall display products perfect for showcasing a single favorite image or creating a collage of multiple images from your session.  Please email me to request a copy of my full product menu (holly@hollyburkholder.com).

10. I would like to create a wall display with my images – will you help me?   Absolutely! Wall design is my specialty.  I offer in-home consultations  to help my local clients make informed decisions on the wall displays and image products they purchase.  Are you outside the Cincinnati area?  No problem – we can have a working session via FaceTime. Would you like to create a display using the high resolution images you received from another photographer?  I can help with that too! More information on my Portraits As Art Program here.

11. I would like to have paintings created of my children’s portraits – do you offer this service?  Yes!  As a unique offering, I have partnered with a wonderful local artist to hand “paint” my portraits for my clients! Each image is created from the original digital image file using the “brushes” and tools in Photoshop and Coral Painter.  The artist renders the final image using special brush techniques and a complimentary color palate – exactly as you would physically paint an image except done digitally. The final image is then printed on a high quality canvas.  The result is a stunning image for display in your home very much like a hand-painted oil or acrylic at a more affordable price.  A custom price quote will be created for you upon request.   I would be delighted to show you samples of the work.

12.  What type of payment do you accept?  I accept cash, check, PayPal and all major credit cards.

13. Who owns the copyright on my images? Holly Burkholder Photography retains the copyright to all images she creates and she may use images from your session for self-promotion, display, marketing collateral and social media.  If you prefer for your images to remain private, please let me know, as this option is available.
